Oh wow, that rosé is such a special one! I've had some pleasant surprises with music algorithms lately. Most of the time, though, the song that is played after my chosen ones is pretty jarring. Like why would you put Soft Cell's "Tainted Love" after the Cowboy Junkies?
Possibly only the second time I’ve tasted it, very grateful for my friends! Ouch that does sound very jarring, the algorithm does some strange things at times. It’s those little pleasant surprises it throws up, or the new songs/artists it introduces me to that means I’m not totally against it!
Okay sold on the Rosado, just need the algorithm to loan me $700 for a bottle 😂. Seriously though, sounds awesome, hope to have a chance to taste that some day. Great music rec too, haven't heard of the Valdons, but that track kind of reminds me a little of Roxanne with almost like reggae spin. Cheers!
Haha will get old Al Gorithm to ship some your way! I really hope you get to try some some day, no doubt you will at some point! Oo yes, I feel you with The Police, you’ve added a whole ‘nother layer to that now familiar piece!
Think this might have only been the second time trying ever, sadly they disappear as soon as they’re released. But you should count yourself lucky that you’ll still get to try it for the first time at some point (and being in the wine industry, that time will come sooner rather than later!)
When I let the algorithm take over, it's for discovery purposes, not for having a "right" song play after whichever. I'm looking for new variety, bands and musicians I haven't yet discovered, and in that regard, the algorithim absolutely delivers. I've diversified my playlists through the roof since allowing algorithims to do their thang. Half the songs? Not my thing at all. Another quarter? Nice, but nothing I need to remember or follow. But then there's this final quarter who become regulars for me. And that's the purpose of algorithmic playlists, I think. Let it throw that "wrong" song in and get you out of a comfort zone. But then yes, curate your own for a party/get-together. :)
Bang on, Dave. This week’s piece partly came about due to a whole week of just allowing the algorithm to take over my listening experience. It’s those few songs/artists it throws up which means that I’m never going to be totally against it; my collection and tastes have also diversified massively since finding the odd diamond in the rough!
I love the idea of a song slinking in with its mac collar standing proud, exposing itself to an audience with dropped jaws....The worst playlist I endured was on hold for an hour to the White Company( I ain't bragging...); the most miserable, down-beat collection including Adele, shouty misery-inducing doyenne. No apologies to fans, I want happy music when I'm queuing. Sounds like you have the best friends, Nathaniel 😻with sublime hosting skills.
I remember when Spotify felt like the answer to our friend circle's vastly different tastes in music. Until the day that we all sat back and complained about the music choice...only to find out that the host had typed in 'dinner party music'. It was sooo bad that it's still memorable after all these years. Your dinner party sounds amazing...humans definitely have the upperhand on bots! Also, I am envious of your López de Heredia Rosada (still haven't been able to source a bottle).
The fennel note on López de Heredia Rosado!! Unique is truly the only word for that wine. A great bottle to share during the waning days of summer.
Exactly, the perfect transition wine from late summer to early autumn. Though I wouldn’t blame anyone for not wanting to share it!

In that case it worked!
Maybe one day I’ll manage to taste that Tondonia rose. Everyone says it’s fantastic

That’s the last thing you wanna hear when you’re on hold… perhaps it’s deliberate to make you hang up the phone and never register your complaint!
